The Attenuation Tank in North Co Cork was a significant construction project undertaken by BuildR that involved a bulk reduce dig of 5000m2 and the construction of a similarly sized attenuation tank with a petrol interceptor. This project aimed to address the issue of stormwater runoff and provide a sustainable solution for managing excess water in an environmentally friendly manner.

Stormwater runoff is a common issue in urban areas, particularly during heavy rainfall. The excess water can overwhelm the existing drainage systems, leading to flooding and potential damage to infrastructure and the environment. To mitigate these risks, attenuation tanks are often implemented to collect and store the excess water, allowing it to be slowly released into the drainage system or infiltrated into the ground.

The first phase of the project involved a bulk dig of 5000m2. This process required the excavation and removal of a significant amount of soil and other materials to create the necessary space for the construction of the attenuation tank. The dig was carefully planned and executed to ensure the site's integrity and minimize any potential disruptions to the surrounding areas.

Once the bulk dig was completed, the construction of the attenuation tank began. The tank was designed to have a similar size to the excavated area, allowing it to effectively collect and store the stormwater runoff. Additionally, a petrol interceptor was included in the design to prevent any potential contamination of the collected water.
